Hey y’all! My name is Daniel Rosenstrauch. I am a sophomore at Baker studying Mechanical Engineering with minors in Engineering Design & Business. At Rice I have had a couple of projects: in ENGI120 my team made a new way to bond textiles for the PI lab & for iSEED, a study abroad in Tokyo, my team prototyped an autonomous platform to take trash bins out to the curb for the elderly or disabled. On campus I am engaged in the OEDK as an Engineering Design & Writing mentor for ENGI120, and I am also founding the Rice branch of the SOLIDWORKS User Group (currently stuck in paperwork processing) which will aim to give Rice students exposure to SOLIDWORKS through projects.
My favorite project I have made so far was a stellar spectrograph I made in high school. That project was a bunch of fun to learn about the theory for and then put together and test. I still remember my excitement when I got the first reading of a spectra to come through.

Looking forward to this semester, one thing I really want to make is a replica of a lamp I saw at an art gallery that you could move up and down with a rock that perfectly counterbalanced it. I look forward to gaining proficiency with as many tools in the OEDK as possible to help me bring some projects to life!
