Hand Sewing a Felt Heart

For this assignment, I hand-sewed a felt heart. It is really exciting since it is my first time sewing! I learned a lot from this assignment, such as making knots, cutting out shapes from fabrics, and stitching techniques.

Below is the process of this project.

First, I drew and cut out a heart from an A4 paper as a heart template.

I pinned the paper heart onto the fabric and cut out a heart shape, but I also left some extra space for seam allowance and notch cuts while cutting.

Second, I sewed stitches along the outline of the paper heart. I left 1/4 of the outline unsewn, so that I can turn it inside out.

Third, I turned the heart inside out and put cotton into the heart to make it puffy.

Finally, I used pins to hold the 1/4 opening in place and then stitched it closed.

This is the final heart with my name tag attached to it!

After doing the project, I cleaned my workspace.
