Dino Plushie!

I am very familiar with hand-sewing! I am the friend that everyone comes to when they need a hole in their shirt patched up, so I really wanted to push myself with this project, but also create something I would genuinely enjoy.

The obvious answer was a dinosaur plushie! I love dinosaurs and have never sewn a plushie before, so I knew it would be the perfect challenge.

I started by finding a pattern online that I could use to cut out my pieces and have a general idea of where to start. I printed out the pattern I used, linked here: Dino Pattern Print. I then scaled the printout to a larger paper with the copier in the OEDK.

I then went to Michael’s to find felt for the Dino. Since I couldn’t find fabric at the OEDK that I thought would work for my dino, I decided to make a trip to Michael’s and get a few small sheets of felt of the colors I required.

I gathered all my materials, put on some Netflix and began. First, I cut out the paper pattern and then cut out the same shapes with the felt.

At this point, it became a lot more difficult. The blog I was following became extremely confusing with the directions and I decided to try my best and put the pieces together like a puzzle.
I started with the legs and used pins to form the seams where I needed to sew. I used a back stitch because it wasn’t too tedious but also created a stronger hold. Pinned leg on underbody of the dino

I then filled the dino with stuffing and sewed up the back end of it tightly.

Finally, I added black buttons for the eyes as a final touch and here are some final photos!
