My friends think I’m weird: The Story of Molding my Fingers

Our homework for this week was molding and casting our fingers!!! Which according to my friends is weird?…

It was a really fun experience, so now I am going to tell you the process of how I did it!

I began by preparing the mold with the alginate powder. I mixed 1.5 oz of alginate with 6.75 oz of water in a beaker and used a drill to stir the mixture, I then put my fingers in the mixture and had the most awkward 5 minutes of my life, until it solidified!

I then mixed 70g of rockite and 20g of water, mixed it and poured the liquid into the mold. I used a little white support piece to put screws and stick them inside the finder mold to solidify with the cement. An hour later, I took the fingers out of the mold and let them dry for the rest of the night.

I then came back to the OEDK, found a foam cube from the low fidelity prototype cabinet and plugged the screw fingers into it and used purple spray paint and clear coat to make them look pretty✨
