For the CNC machining homework, I used Nomad 3D to create two wooden pieces with engraved contours.
Process
I first created the svg file in Adobe Illustrator. I imported a png picture as a reference and drew curves on top of that. It’s a crest from Arcane, a tv-series that I really like!

Then I imported the svg file into Carbide Create and set tool paths for different parts. The patterns were all set to pocket cut and the outer shape was a contour path that cuts throught the piece.

With the file ready, I went to my TA session to use Nomad3 for machining. I measured the dimentions of my wood piece and clamped it to the platform. Then I put Bitzero on the bottom left corner, jogged the mill into the circle and began probbing to set the origin of the job. After that and checked the preview of the job, I started it. It took about 17 minutes in total to machine!

It looked just as I intended, so I took off the support and sanded the edges a little bit. Later I repeated the above process to create another piece, and I stained them both.

After the stain dried, I prepared resin of two colors (amber and purple) and put it on the pocket cut areas. They dried overnight, and now I have the finished pieces!
