CNC Machining

This week I made a wooden piece with my initial of my Chinese name out of CNC.
Here is the simple design
I used the Nomad 3 to cut my piece because it is relatively small and I thought the machine is easier to use as well.
Here is a picture of the set up with the corner origin setter.  I used a 1/16″ end mill for the engraving and 1/8″ end mill for the contour.
Here are my 2 identical piece
I first sanded them because the surface of the original wood piece was not very smooth. I sanded both on the side and particularly on the surface.  I then covered them with teak oil to give it a tainted look.
Finally, I use a plastic pipette (Thanks to the amazing TA Darshon for finding me one) to put black resin into the carved areas.
I put just enough resin into one piece and as much as i could for the other one and you can see a difference in color.
Here is a clean up photo after I used the CNC machine
It was great learning how to use the cnc, it feels like it opened up another door for me to do prototyping in the future.
