Hi everyone! My name is Issy Tsai, and I’m a sophomore from Baker studying electrical and computer engineering and minoring in engineering design. I have wanted to take EDES 210 for a while now and am super excited for this semester!

In my freshman year, I took ENGI 120 and EDES 200 where our team designed a navigation aid for a blind dog. I have also been a part of Eclipse. Last summer, I participated in iSEED in Bologna. It was probably the most walking I have done in any month of my life. For one of the final projects, our team made a cardboard vending machine.

Outside of school though, a recent thing I made that I’m proud of is a set of crochet coasters I made as a gift for a friend. I learned to crochet when I was pretty young but only recently picked it back up, so making something felt really rewarding.

Something that I have been wanting to make for a long time is a radio. I just think it would be really cool to make one! In EDES 210, I would like to learn how to use a 3D printer. I feel like it’s a skill that will be useful. Beyond that, I also really just want to explore what’s possible with all the new skills I’ll learn with this class.
