My Name is Chris Lhuilier, I am a Freshman from Will Rice studying Mechanical Engineering. This is my first time in the OEDK and I am super excited for this course and to work with y’all over the semester. Outside of classes I love to workout, read (mostly fantasy and sci-fi), write, watch movies, cook and be outdoors. This semester at Rice, I’m looking forward to joining some clubs, training for Beer Bike, and exploring more of what Rice and Huston has to offer.

Most of my design experience comes from working on my High school’s FRC team and from various personal projects. The thing that I am the most proud of building was the ring-shooting mechanism I designed for our robot senior year as I got to bring one of my ideas from a basic prototype to a fully functional component. My goal for this class is to build on my experience and really learn how to use all the machines we have access to so that I can build cool stuff. One thing that I would love to make is a fully functional pendulum clock. I have always been fascinated by all of the complex mechanisms in clocks and would love to learn how they all work. A skill I’d like to improve is using multiple machines and techniques in conjunction to create more technical parts, more specifically I’d love to learn how to incorporate electrics into my designs.
That’s all for now, I look forward to diving into everything this course has to offer and keeping y’all updated!
