Hello!
My name is Boyuan Zhang, a Junior from Will Rice at the time of writing. I am a Business Finance and Economics double major looking to finish the EDES minor before I graduate. Partially influenced by my roommate who is an Engineering major doing a Business minor (but I got one more major than him), I look forward to going to classes in more than just McNair and Kraft for a change. I am involved in Will Rice’s student government, and regularly work with the Business School on internal improvement and logistics.
Outside of world of high finance, auditing work, and managing micro hedge funds, I enjoy working on various jobs where I should be hiring a professional instead. With almost no formal education in engineering but over 6 years of “we’ll see if this works” redneck problem solving, I have been surprisingly successful in my day to day builds.
I have done so many random and (potentially) unsafe projects such as recharging car ACs by taping the bottle to a fence post and shoving it down behind engine blocks, to putting my test bench pc into anything (currently trying to build it in a traffic cone).
I have been making items that embodies “it exists because it’s funny” every year for a few years now. For 2025 I am considering making a bolt-action pool stick, where a trigger pull will send the cue ball flying across the table.
FROM EDES 210, I hope to have a better understanding of using various manufacturing techniques that can help me create more meaningless but entertaining projects during my spare time as I develop more professionally in the finance world.
