For this assignment, I decided to print a heart from the human torso model.
- I first downloaded the .stl files from the thingyverse website: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4601991. The files were separated into the bottom and top of the heart.
- I uploaded the two files (bottom and top of the heart) into the bambu printer and enabled supports for the top half of the heart as it was a bit slanted. The images are shown below in bambu studio.
3. After the hearts were printed, I removed the supports and superglued the two halves together.
4. After gluing the pieces together, I sanded the intersection as it was a bit misaligned. I used a dremel and sandpaper to wet sand the model to get it as smooth as possible.
5. After I was satisfied with the sanding, I spray-painted the models with a pink primer + paint. However after letting it dry for 30 minutes, I found that it really highlighted the gaps I still had between the two halves that were glued together. I decided to use the filler primer to try to get rid of the gaps and let it dry for about 4 hours.
6. I used the dremel to sand the filler down a bit before painting.
7. I used the red acrylic paint and the foam brush to paint my models. The pink base and the filler primer made the model a really cool ombre color when I added the red acrylic. I was originally going for a bright red all around but am really happy with the result of this.
