Molding and Casting!

This week I completed the molding and casting project of creating 2 wall hooks in the shape of my finger. During last class, Zekiye and I created a mold of my finger which I used to create these two finger hooks. We mixed the alginate with water until it began to set. I placed my finger in the cup to create my mold. Next, I mixed water and rockite and poured it into my mold. After repeating the rockite process, I ended up with my two wall hooks!

Next I worked on post processing the pieces. Because the wall-connecting side of the fingers turned out smooth for the most part, I did minimal sanding. I spray painted my fingers green and then added a clear, matte coat. In the future, I would be more careful when creating my mold because the fingernails did not turn out consistently.
