Our team comprised of. We were tasked with dismantling an old inkjet printer.
Our first step was to examine the machine and identify any points of entry and easily removable parts. The most noticeable was the back duplex unit shown below.
This in and of itself was composed of numerous components itself such as the rollers and the screws.
We were also able to remove two side components.
Next we removed the top cover of the printer as it was easily detachable from the main body and allowed access to the inner components such as the ink cartridge holder and slide mechanism.
The next task and the most difficult was removing the outer casing of the printer. It took us a while to determine how to unclasp the clips that held it to the rest of the body. In addition finding these clips was difficult and for a while we were unsure how to proceed. Fortunately with good detective work we were able to discover 2 small plastic clips that held the entire thing in place.
Below is a circuit board which was necessary to remove in order to access the slide mechanism.
Here are 2 shots of the printer before further dismantling.
Before removing the printer cartridge slide mechanism shown below as well as the metal rod holding such mechanism in place, we first had to brute force our way through a small metal clamp that prevented the rod from being dislodged. Once this was removed the metal rod slid off and the printer cartridge holder along with it.
This was the final state of the printer since our time was limited.
Below are pictures of the worksheet that we completed.
