Hey everyone! My name is Saumya Chauhan, and I’m a junior at Duncan studying Health Sciences and Global Health Technologies. On campus, you’ll usually find me getting coffee at Broch, at practice for the equestrian team, or at a period@rice club meeting!

Testing with the EMB model
I’ve spent a fair bit of time at the OEDK for classes like GLHT 360 (don’t look at my doordash history before showcase), and through that, I’m most proud of the endometrial biopsy (EMB) training model I built for early cancer detection. I continued to test this device last summer in Nairobi, Kenya (check out those blogs!), which really deepened my interest in needs finding.
Looking ahead, I’m most excited to learn how the laser cutter and CNC machines at the OEDK work! My roommates and I love board games so my next project needs to be a customised game which may or may not have our faces on it. I also want to get better at sketching so I can intuitively express my ideas on paper.
I’m excited to get to know all of you and see the cool things we can create together! See you soon!
