3D Printing: Hairy Lion

In this week’s project, we used the 3D printer to print a thing that is impossible to make by other method in one time. I browsed the Thingiverse and then decided to make this Hairy Lion because it requires a creative way of post-processing.

The most important and challenging part of creating this hairy lion is to print the actual ‘hair’ of this lion. This idea is to create a round wall as the support for those plastic hair, then cut the wall off and use hot hair dryer to make lion’s hair style.

After cleaning all the wall and supportive materials the lion looks like this:

Then, put the hair dryer in heating mode so that it can soft the plastic hair. And when the hair became soft, it is time to move all the hairs back like this:
