555 Intro (Ana’s Version)

Hi all!
My name is Ana Saucedo and I recently graduated from Rice University in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Global Health Technologies. I’m currently a graduate student in the Master of Bioengineering GMI program. I was involved in HACER and SHPE as an undergrad, and I’d like to continue being involved in that and join the LAGSA community.

I’m very proud of the prototype that my team and I made for our senior capstone project. We built a gastric suction device to address preventable infant mortality in the Dominican Republic. It was a challenging and rewarding experience that reinforced my passion for designing medical devices that can greatly improve people’s quality of life.

I’ve recently gained interest in sewing and crocheting projects, and I’d like to learn the skills necessary to make my own. I’m fascinated by how many things can be built up from yarn/thread, so I’m excited to experience that in this class.

I’d like to leave ENGI 210 with more enhanced 3D printing and sewing skills, as well as a strong foundation in how to use the rest of the prototyping equipment in the OEDK.
