♥ Hello classmates, professor and TA’s! ♥
I’m Sarah, a first-year PhD graduate student in BIOE, and I am currently working for Dr. Lou (Materials Science and Nanoengineering) and Dr. Acharya (Baylor College of Medicine – Department of surgery) as a lab graduate assistant. I love coffee, yoga, karate, walking for hours and I have a beautiful calico cat called Nala. My research interests are biomaterials and nanoengineering devices for biomedical applications unrelated to cancer, such as research in cardiovascular (stents, biosynthetic hearts?) and autoimmune and chronic diseases (like IBDs, diabetes, psoriasis) applications. I did my undergrad at Louisiana State University in biological engineering (Go Tigers!) and fulfilled my dream of doing graduate school at Rice U! I decided to take this course in the hopes of learning new techniques I can use later in my research projects such as 3D printing, laser cutting and modeling. I am a very crafty person, so I am very excited to take this “hands-on” class.
