Qiu’s Introduction

a. My name is Qiu Wong and I’m a senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I’m heavily involved with the rowing team on campus, and also participate in Habitat for Humanity’s builds.

b. One of the things that I was proudest in making was helping to build a basement from scratch. I was volunteering with All Hands Volunteers for a summer in Detroit, where we rebuilt basements which have been torn down after severe damage caused by a flood. We re-framed several parts, and completed the entire process from there including insulation, dry wall, paint, and tiling.

c. Something that I’ll really like to build is a toy that resembles this:

Basically all it does is a penguin chasing another one for eternity. They race up the stairs and go down the slide over and over again. However I want to replace the penguins with:

If you’ve watch My Neighbor Totoro you’ll know that there’s a scene where Mei (girl pictured) chases them around until she eventually falls down a hole and finds Totoro.

d. I’ll really like to learn how to use most of the machines available in the OEDK, especially the different 3D printers.
