Hey everyone,

My name is Ben Zaltsman, I’m a current freshman at Lovett originally from Israel, but I went to school on Long Island. I’m involved a little bit in the SAC here at Rice but I’m more involved in a lot of the college activities at Rice, I also am Sammy the Owl (at least for now). I’ve made many things throughout the years so it is difficult to narrow it down to a single project. One of the things I am most proud of is my ENGI 120 project, where my team worked to create a pre-operative scrub in sink for an Ethiopian Hospital, after many months of work we found and prototyped a design I am very proud of.

I am very excited to make the midterm project. These projects were something that I saw when I prospied at Rice and I thought they were very cool so I am excited to build one of my own. I want to learn how to use the various cutters that are available at the OEDK. The lazer cutter, plasma cutter and CNC machines are all things I have heard of but never had the opportunity to use so I’m excited for those.
