CNC Cat

CNC Milling Homework

For this homework, I decided to CNC a cat in honor of my Nala ♥

For my first piece I had to interrupt the operation since the tape did not make it and it separated from the base. The machine got me a very hard time initializing again and I had to restart the program many times. I did the eyes of the cat in a second cut.

For post processing, I sanded the hole piece except for the inner edges of the eyes which I could not get to. I used every sand paper grade in order. After sanding, I added a clear coat of spray paint to make it glossy and protect it.

For my second cut, I did it all at once. I scaled it a little bit smaller to prevent the drill getting too close to the edges of the wood and therefore lifting or breaking it. Post-processing was the same.

However, scaling it down by a factor of 0.8 affected the tool path and part of the eyes of the cat flew away.
