Hello, Engi210/BIOE555-ers!

Hi. I’m AJ Price, and my educational background is in Humanities (BA in English, Honors Interdisciplinary Minor; MA in Humanities with Graphic Design concentration). Professionally, my work has coalesced around Visual Arts instruction and production. I’m eager to learn new prototyping and manufacturing skills to apply to inventions and creative projects (complementing my prior experience with clay pottery/sculpture, acrylic painting, and digital art).

I recently completed a training in Laser Cutting at the Ion Prototyping Lab (run by TXRX). Using knowledge from this course, I created an acrylic calendar of week-long panels that each magnetize to our refrigerator. It accepts wet-erase marker entries for visual redundancy of our most-important events. A persistent dream-project would be designing interactive educational playground equipment to teach the STE(A)M concepts I missed out on as a kid.

In my free time, I enjoy volunteering as a Community Associate at Wiess College along with my partner, Grant Belton, who’s a Wiess alum and Rice Office of Innovation staff member. Fun fact about me: I observe and celebrate ALL the New Years: Jan. 1, Lunar New Year, Persian New Year, my birthday, Samhain, etc! And, I’m looking forward to learning with (and from) all you!

P.S. My “add-media” mammal image link from the initial instructions page is too cute to have deleted…
